for old times sake, from the now (much) older but in many ways the same: i have exactly two and a half weeks before i leave chicago for good. all of the appropriate parties have been notified of this imminent departure and a one-way ticket for j has been purchased to drive west out there with me. we've got about 4 days to do 2200 miles, so i get to pass through a lot of places i've never been before without the time to actually stop and be in them. at least the way i get to sf will mirror the way i decided to go in the first place. to leave, rather. 'i'm leaving' seems more appropriate than 'i'm going' in this case, since i'm not sure of why i'm going there really, except to be sure that it's not staying here.
